Japan|Hiroki Sugita
Columnist, Kyodo News
He served as Tehran Bureau Chief, New York Correspondent, Washington Bureau Chief, and Chief Editorial Writer of Kyodo before taking current position in 2019. He writes about international affairs and frequently interviews global leaders, such as President George W. Bush of the United States of America and Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation.
Also, he often makes comments on international affairs and Japan’s diplomacy on TV news programs. He received the Japan Press Club Award for international reporting in 2021. His current career includes Professor at Meiji University. He has written many books on Japan’s nuclear policy, geopolitics, economic sanctions, and international news reporting.
In 2008, he served as a reporter for The Korea Business News, and in 2013, joined MBC, where he worked in various departments including politics, economy, society, international, election broadcast planning team, and as a reporter for the presidential office.
He won the 2023 Korean Broadcasting Awards for Journalism for his speacial report “Suspicious Civilians Inside special plane for the president”. Later that year, he published “기자 유감” (Reporter’s Regret), recounting his experiences as a political reporter uncovering corruption and resisting authoritarianism, expressing regret for “becoming a slave to power.”

Indonesia|Wahyu Dhyatmika

During the 2019 Indonesian election period, Wahyu collaborated with 24 media outlets, along with the Indonesian Cyber Media Association(AMSI), the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI), and the Anti-Slander Society (Mafindo), to establish Indonesia’s first fact-checking collaborat- ion platform, CekFakta.com.
Wahyu is also a member of the AJI and serves as the Secretary-General of the AMSI. In 2014, he received the Nieman Fellowship from Harvard University and teaches journalism at the University of Indonesia and Mu-ltimedia Nusantara University (UMN).
He is the National Business Editor of The Indian Express at the publication’s editorial head office in New Delhi, where he anchors the economy and business news coverage, and ensures cohesion between the print editi-on and online business-related story flows. He has been a journalist for nearly two decades, and worked with The Hindu Business Line and Business Standard newspapers prior to joining the Express Group. Additionally, Anil is an alumnus of Delhi University, where he graduated with a degree in Chemistry and later pursued postgraduate studies in management.

Thailand|Noppatjak Attanon
Noppatjak Attanon is a leading journalist during Thailand political turmoil a decade ago, he uses digital platform to deliver news and analysis to create better changes for the country.
He then received a British Government Chevening scholarship to study International Journalism at City University London, where he worked with the BBC Thai under BBC Chevening Placement.
In 2017, he came back to Bangkok and led TODAY, a leading digital news outlet that reach millions of viewers worldwide. He hosted the show AIM HOUR, interview program in English language aiming to be a platform to bridge the gap between Bangkok and the world.
Lian specializes in human rights, judiciary, anti-corruption, criminal syn-dicates, and political affairs. She joined GMA News and Public Affairs in 2010 and has been a senior investigative reporter for Rappler since 2017. She leads investigations into prison deaths, crackdowns on activists, and President Duterte’s drug war. Lian also produces Rappler’s legal podcast, “Law of Duterte Land.”
Beyond her professional duties, she provides consultation and develops communication campaigns for academic institutions and NGOs engaged in judicial and human rights research.

She has served as the President of the BBC Hong Kong Bureau and the Editor-in-Chief of BBC Chinese News, as well as the International Project Director and China Editor for The Initium in New York. She has also contributed articles to the Chinese edition of The New York Times and worked as a correspondent for the South China Morning Post in Beijing, among other renowned foreign media outlets.
In 2023, she founded Dasheng Media(Mighty Voice LLC) in New York. Serving as the founder and CEO, they aim to develop innovative Chinese-language community news models.
As head of development, Anton oversees Thomson Foundation’s partnership relationships in Germany and beyond. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of media and civil society development.
He previously worked for the Open Society Foundations (OSF) where he headed the Eastern Europe and Central Asia work as Division Director. This included coordinating OSF’s response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and supervising portfolios focusing on protection and expansion of civil space in Europe and Central Asia through support to scholars, independent journalists and media.
In 2012-2019, Anton was Executive Director of the Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan. Prior to that he had spearheaded that foundation’s programs aimed to increase transparency and accountability in public finances.
In 2006-2009, he was a member of the International Board for the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).

Taiwan|I-Chung Lai
Executive Director, Interflow Prospect Foundation
He is the executive director of the Prospect Foundation, and the Board Member of Taiwan Foundation for Democracy. He served as Director General for Department of International Affairs and Director General for Department of China Affairs in the Democratic Progressive Party. Prior to that, he was Taiwan Thinktank’s Vice President, Executive Director for DPP Mission in the US , and Special Assistant for Policy to Taiwan Representative to Japan.
Professor Huang’s research interests include political economy, the China effect, and media politics. He held positions as a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard University’s Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies, an assistant professor at Tamkang University’s Institute of China Studies, co-editor of “Who governs? TW,” and a consultant for the American Enterprise Institute’s “Beijing’s Global Media Influence” project. He authored “The Political Economy of Press Freedom: The Paradox of Taiwan versus China” and co-authored books such as”China’s Influence and the Centreperi-phery Tug of War in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Indo-Pacific”.

He had professional experiences including positions at United Daily News, Apple Daily, The Reporter, Radio Free Asia, Mirror Media, and Taiwan Public Television. Specialized roles encompass being a practical instructor at the Graduate Institute of Journalism at National Taiwan University and serving as a judge for the Foundation for Excellent Journalism Awards. He is currently employed at the Asian Fact-Checking Laboratory, and focus areas in the profession include politics, national defense, cross- strait relations, and China-related affairs.
She works as the CEO and Editor-in-chief of Taiwan Fact Check Center. Chiu has contributed her extensive expertise in both teaching and consulting. In her media-related career, she has provided invaluable insights to Taiwanese government departments and the media industry alike.
Before TFC, she served as CEO of The Foundation for Excellent Journalism Award for nearly two decades, which awards outstanding journalism every year. She was on the Board of Taiwan Public TV from 2016-2022.

She specializes in political communication, voting behavior, political behavior, public opinion polls, and big data analysis. She authored ‘Political Communication’ and ‘Taiwan People’s Media Use and Unification and Independence Position.’ Her roles include editor-in-chief of the Journal of Public Administration & Policy, editorial board member of Mass Communication Research, director of the Research Center for Public Opinion and Election at National Taipei University, and memb-erships in various governmental and media committees.
Based in Berlin for many years, specializing in European politics, society, and history. Author of “The Heart of Europe: How Germany Changed Itself,” winner of the Taipei International Book Exhibition Grand Prize. Translated work includes “Harmonious Society: China, the Beautiful New World under Big Data Surveillance.” Currently focused on how the Russia-Ukraine war is reshaping nation-building in Europe and Ukraine.

The Reporter focuses on in-depth reportage and investigative journalism and publishes its output on an open-source website. Sherry endeavors to explore new possibilities for journalism and to facilitate more cross-border collaborations in investigative journalism. She is also a board member of the Environmental Reporting Collective (ERC), a network of journalists dedicated to investigating environmental crimes.
In the past few years, Sherry has authored two award-winning books, Far Sea Fishery And Slavery At Sea (2017) and In Their Teens, In Their Ruin (2018). She has also won the Best Editor of the Year Award of Taipei International Book Exhibition with Fiery Tides (2020), a book on Hong Kong’s anti-extradition movement, and the Best Editor of the Year Award of Golden Tripod Awards with War in Ukraine (2022) . She is also a faculty of practice at the graduate school of journalism of National Taiwan University.
Je Bing Huang previously served as the editor-in-chief of various magazines, a newspaper journalist and editor, and the deputy editor-in-chief of a news website. Has been awarded the Golden Tripod Award for column writing and the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Award for Excellence in Commentary. He authored books including ‘News Never Dies, Just Gasping’ and ‘The Future of Media: A Vision’, and currently holds the position of editorial consultant at CommonWealth Magazine.
