Can solutions journalism work for local newsrooms?

Enter solutions journalism (also called constructive journalism), an approach to news reporting that emphasizes how people are working to solve significant challenges in communities. In its idealized form, solutions journalism (or SOJO) has four main elements: (1) a specific response to a significant social issue, (2) evidence showing what’s working (or not), (3) insights and lessons learned that can be used by others, and (4) an acknowledgment of limitations. The goal is to encourage civic engagement, rebuild trust in media, and develop more productive dialogue in communities.
墨西哥為什麼成為世界上對記者最危險的國家之一？
2024年無國界記者組織（Reporters sans frontières，RSF）年度統計出爐，在全球各地全年有54名記者死於非命，當中佔最多的是處於戰火的加薩地區，也就是巴勒斯坦，有16名記者送命。世界上最大的「記者監獄」則仍是中國，124名記者在中國處於被監禁狀態（包括11名記者在香港被囚），人數超過名單上排第二的緬甸（61人）一倍有餘。而值得關注的是，在記者死亡人數「名列前茅」排第四的墨西哥（5人死亡），不同於名單上其他國家處於戰爭、國內長期動亂、或者是獨裁極權國家，墨西哥從進入二十一世紀以來，大抵處於和平時期，為何卻成為地表上對記者而言最危險的國家之一？
墨西哥大學新聞工作坊 訓練學生報導聚焦污名社區
《拉丁美洲新聞評論》（LatAm Journalism Review）報導，提及位於墨西哥城的墨西哥國立自治大學（Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México，下稱UACM）近年舉辦新聞工作坊，訓練學生將目光聚焦於邊緣社群。工作坊負責人Amarela Varela指出，舉辦工作坊是為了消除邊緣社區生活的污名，讓學生對自己居住的社區更有歸屬感和尊嚴。
