香港新聞自由急遽惡化，多個香港媒體被迫關門大吉並面臨法律訴訟，200多名記者流亡到海外，堅持做關鍵且獨立的報導益發困難。根據英國跨黨派香港小組（Hong Kong All Party Parliamentary Group）在4月發布的報告指出，《香港國安法》自2020年6月30日實施以來，至少18名記者被捕、8間新聞機構停業、近1000名媒體從業人員失業，其中多數選擇轉行。

So a news brand built for — and dependent on — a social media audience, could be facing the same algorithm-induced issues that occurred in 2016.
